Yes I have 2003 Dodge NEON ES, the problem is when I insert the key into the lock & turn to open there is loud screeching noise. I do not have remote opener (lost it). When I pick up the door opener on the door it does the same thing. Is it a serious problem, can it be disconnected? ........BARB K

More than likely it is the actuator in the door. This is an electric solonoid that operates the lock mechanism. It could be disconnected but you may want to consider getting it repair as the labor cost to disconnect it is just less than the labor cost to replace it (not including the price of the part). The best way to know for sure is to have a qualified technician formally inspect and diagnose your concern.

Can a AAA service center do the work or do I have to take the to the dealer........BARBK

Most any AAA Approved Auto Repair facility will be able to do this work.
