TripTik Options

Status: Acknowledged
by MikeC on 10-10-2011 01:48 PM

I love the online TripTik generator, but I'm not so happy about having to print out the many pages of the TripTik.  So two suggestions:

1.  Enable an option to download the TripTik to an e-reader format (mine is Kindle).

2.  Enable an option to generate an itinerary file for the planned route that can be loaded to a GPS unit (mine is TomTom)

Travel Articles for Singles

Status: Acknowledged
by allanp19 on 11-08-2011 10:20 AM

I have been an AAA loyal member since 1985 and I rarely see if any articles devoted to single people. Most if not all of your articles on travel are devoted to couples or for families. I am a single person and I am sure there are many others like me, so I would like to make a suggestion. How about having on a regular bases travel or devote on every issue of Going Places travel articles for single people. Even your advertisements are toward couples or families with noted as double occupancy.

Great point allanp19. We try to keep most of our stories from being overly polarizing and appreciate your feedback. It's something we'll all keep in mind as we produce editorial moving forward. Thanks for reading!

Longer hours?

Status: Acknowledged
by Community Manager on 10-05-2010 04:46 PM

I cannot make it to the AAA office during the workday.  How come AAA can’t be open on weekends or for a few evening hours during the workweek?  Sometimes my family doesn’t decide to go to the movies or an Orlando theme park until we’re having dinner Friday evening, and we can’t get our discount because you’re closed!

Keychain FOB

by Community Manager on 10-11-2010 04:51 PM

It would great if AAA offered one of those little keychain "FOB"s that a lot of companies offer. I find it a hassle to dig in my wallet whenever I need to get out my card to show a hotel or retailer...

Great idea! I know I have many of those mini keytags myself.

Dashboard or window decal

I'm a college student and have been a AAA member for a couple of years (under my parent's membership). I always forget to call AAA when things have happened (I've run out of gas twice and had a flat).  She was mad because I called my dad everytime and got him out of work, instead of just calling AAA ("That's what they're there for!" she said.)

My mom made me a homemade sticker for my dashboard that says, "Need Help? Call AAA. 1-800-222-HELP."  I see that sticker everytime I drive...so I'll never forget to just give you guys a call. I was thinking this would be helpful for others - and I'm sure you could make a much nicer sticker than the one my mom made! It's actually kind of embarassing since all my friends see it too!

I think AAA should send Going Places magazine to doctor's offices so patients can learn about the benefits of AAA.  This could greatly increase AAA's membership.  Think about how many prospects AAA could reach by just 1 issue in a doctor's office!  AAA isn't just roadside assistance!

College Student Membership

by on 10-06-2010 07:41 AM

Offer special memberships for college and university students.  College students want to be independent from their parents and should be able to have their own membership plan specifically designed with member benefits that meet the need of these young adults today.  Also it would be great to have local discounts around the college campuses as well.

AAA Covering Bicycling Trips

Status: Acknowledged
by beebo on 06-27-2011 12:33 PM

I try to "kill three birds with one stone" by cycling everywhere I can rather than use my car. I'll explain; (1) It reduces gas cost&; (2) It is better for the environment & (3) It is great exercise. I think it would be a wonderful idea and maybe encourage others who are hesitant for longer trips to cover our bicycles on our plans. Sometimes I get rather far from home and should I incur a flat or chain break I have no one I could call to rescue me. I would be willing to pay extra to have this service as an option.; Looking forward to comments Debbie

Many couples are living together as domestic partners sharing all aspects of financial responsibilities together.  Why can't AAA provide an associate member category for domestic partners?

I noticed a recent thread that was discussing a mobile App for AAA (specificially I-phone).  Just thought I would add this to the Ideas platform, so members could vote on it.

My suggestion is that the mobile interaction not be limited to just an I-phone, but all mobile devices that members could be traveling with as well.

Status: Acknowledged

Thanks Fletch for bringing this idea forward from one of the AAA Community threads! There is a wide selection of mobile devices available supporting proprietary platforms like Apple's iPhone, Blackberry and Android, just to name a few. Of the current 3 AAA mobile applications (AAA Discounts, AAA Roadside and AAA TripTik Mobile) AAA Discounts is now available for Android users and AAA Roadside is also being developed for Android mobile devices. AAA also has AAA Mobile Web, that provides support for any mobile device with Internet access. Maybe a similar solution may work for your idea. Let's hear more from our other AAA Community Members. Please comment and vote for this idea if you like it. For more information on AAA Mobile applications, please click the following link: AAA.com/AAAMobile

Pet Friendly

Status: Acknowledged
by dldart67 on 03-30-2011 11:34 AM

My family are going on vacation in May and plan to take our small active and happy dog.  I have spent many hours looking for pet friendly accomodations that allow you to leave your unattended pet in the room for awhile and not add additional charge, a doggy day care that lets your pet interact with other dogs throughout the day (and not charge an arm and leg), restaurants that are pet friendly as long as you and your pet eat outside.  I found these by using many, many, search engines and it was worth it.  I think it would be great if AAA had the availability for the members to have one place to search instead.

Family Reunion Trip

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve had problems in the past organizing a large family vacation for a family reunion.  Trying to coordinate all of my family members with airfare, hotel accommodations and rentals cars can be a hassle for someone who’s not that familiar with travel.  AAA could make it easier by helping plan large events as well as activities.  Not only for family reunions, but for wedding planning, honeymoons and other large events.

Headlights

It would be very inexpensive for automobile manufacturers to add a relay to the Windshield Wipers so that they would automatically turn on the headlights when it is raining. Even though it is a law in many states and is also a very big safety factor there are still too many people who disregard it.    It would be a safety feature just like seat belts which were only an option many years ago...Thank You, Steven Cina

We have been AAA members for 20+ years and our parents have been members for 50 years and we LOVE AAA.  One thing that I would like to see is ability to share service call quotas amongst ourselves, even if the other card member isn't present.  I understand the policy of having a card member present at the call (preventing use by non-members), but if we're all on the same account, paying with the same card, wouldn't it make sense to allow me to share my unused quota with, say, my daughter, whose car is more prone to needing service calls?  To insist on me being present when her car needs a jump or tow, seems a bit rigid and not very AAA like, in my opinion.  I think reasonable folks would agree.  I propose a policy change.  Thanks so much for your consideration!

Road/Air vs. Cruise travel

Status: Acknowledged
by SAM on 12-22-2010 01:37 PM

The AAA magazine seems to be heavily devoted to Cruise travel.  I am someone who has absolutely no desire to take a cruise.  I would appreciate more articles devoted to road travel to visit places within the AAA Club South area.

Hi, Sam, I'm working on a story like that right now. I'll make sure to remind myself, and the other editors of Going Places, to try to keep our editiorial varied so that there's something for everyone. Thanks for your readership! Stephen

Listing hotels by major road location

Status: Acknowledged
by Irene on 12-21-2010 06:10 AM
On a recent trip from Orlando, Florida to Washington, DC, we wanted to stop and spend the night about half way. I pulled out my trusty AAA guide book and saw all the cities listed by town. It was frustrating to try and match the upcoming town, Hotel then exit to our drive as we weren't familiar with the area and were extremely tired. I kept trying to scan the triptik, then map to find a place on 95. A traffic jam slowed us down enough to read the road signs and find a stop. We felt it would be nice to have some kind of quick guide that showed, for example, I95, and a quick list of the towns on I95 and hotel/motel names. Then we could quickly open the book and read up on the town. Here's a possible example Road. State. Cities AAA Hotels I95. North Carolina. Raleigh. Hampton Inn, Exit xxx, holiday Innn. Exit. Xxx It would not have to be too detailed. Just a quick reference.

Basic membership mileage

With more travel and fewer service stations, theallowed towing mileage needs

to be increasesd without fee increase. 5 miles in most cases is not enough.

How about 15 miles?

Status: Acknowledged
AAA offers differing levels of coverage to allow individuals to choose the level they need and can afford: up to 5 miles of towing for Classic, up to 100 miles of towing for Plus; and up to 200 miles of towing for Premier. AAA continues to review our membership plans to meet the needs of our Members in our ongoing efforts to provide superior roadside assistance.

Car sign saying "Call AAA ."

Status: New Idea
by Community Manager on 06-10-2011 10:38 AM

Hi Community Members,

I recently received an email from a member with a product suggestion and wanted to see what all of you thought of the idea.  Feel free to vote for or against the idea and share your own opinions in the thread.

Amy

"How wonderful is this!! - for while I was driving to work this morning I thought of a great suggestion to submit to AAA and then when I arrive to work I see an email from AAA in my in-box. Example: I have a huge fold-up cardboard sign in my car that can hook to the back of the vehicle that reads in very large print CALL POLICE, however, most times when I'm stuck on the road I do not need the police - I need AAA. I'm a Mom, the only person in the family that can work and drive, caring for 3-disabled family members that can not work or drive, therefore, money is my household is tight - just like most households. I do not own a cell phone and most likely would stay in my car with the windows up and the doors locked until an officer shows up. Suggestion: Would AAA please consider to make a huge plastic, easy-to-fold-up-small, bright colored sign with long tie strings, that will easily tie onto any part of the vehicle, with large print that reads: CALL AAA 800-222-4357?. "

I just learned about earning rewards when I shop online via AAA.com. Looking through all the online stores you offer, I found a bunch I shop at, but I'd love it if you could add a couple of learning/science partners for the holidays? Two of my favorites are Nat'l Geographics... shop.nationalgeographic.com. They have really cool stuff...and another one for science is discoverystore.com.  I always end up buy a bunch of stuff for family members that has a learning angle to it...getting some AAA Dollar Rewards for doing it would be cool!
