What's Drivin' You Nuts?

I live in Florida, most of the time we are on water restriction and the "grass" is very dry.  What amazes me is that so many of the smokers throw their "BUTTS" out the car window. If you are a smoker you should opt for the ashtray when you purchase a car, or carry a cup of water for your cigarette butts. Filters from cigarettes take years to break down, think of how our roads look, think of your lungs!  Look at yourself next time you take a LONG drag on that cigarette, it is NOT a pretty sight.

We have a friend.....

who just got a BIG FAT ticket here in Pinellas County, Florida last week for throwing his cigarette butt out the window....AND....in front of an officer! He had been pulled over for speeding and as the officer was walking up to his door, he threw his cigarette butt out. I had to laugh. The ticket for throwing his cigarette butt out is bigger than his speeding ticket! Awesome! Littering is one of my biggest pet peeves. There's NO excuse for it. There are trash cans everywhere.

You are so right about how dry it gets here in Florida. I was born and raised here. A lot of fires are caused by idiots throwing out their cigarette butts without a care in the world over the damage just one cigarette butt can cause and the lasting effects on the environment.

Makes me crazy.

Jaywalking...a dangerous practice

Why do people cross the street anywhere but where there are designated crosswalks?  Otherwise known as Jaywalking, this is a dangerous practice.  If drivers drove anywhere but in the roadway, they’d receive a ticket, damage their car or worse.  Towns and Cities spend thousands of dollars to paint crosswalks, install pedestrian signals and stop traffic for ungodly amounts of time, all in an effort to safely cross pedestrians.  But people still insist on crossing the street at every location but the crosswalk.  I live in one of the most dangerous City’s for pedestrians and yet I see it every day.  A mother and child, a bicyclist, a homeless man; all cross a five lane roadway, taking refuge in the middle lane (interestingly known as a suicide lane) with traffic whizzing by in both directions.  What is so important on the other side that they will throw caution to the wind and allow unknown drivers to determine their fate?  A gas station?  A bank?  A grocery store?  All accessible by crossing at the signal…just takes a few minutes longer.  In this age of cell phones, twitter accounts and fast internet, we have become a High-speed Society.  Where written communication is cut to phonics, our validation comes from a hand-held and getting across the street directly is more important than making it there safely.

Traffic Lights

I am really bothered by people who don't move or move slowly at green lights (I miss many because of them) and run red lights.

SENIOR CITIZENS

Being a SENIOR CITIZEN myself it really upsets me and is dangerous and also the law in Fl. that you are suppose to use your turn signals when changing lanes. NOT JUST CUT OVER IN FRONT OF SOMEONE FIGURING THEY'll LET ME IN. RIP

SENIOR CITIZENS

BEING ONE MYSELF WHY CAN'T THEY LOOK BEFORE CHANGING LANES FIGURING I'M GOING TO LET THEM IN. IN FL. ITS AGAINST THE LAW TO CHANGE LANES WITHOUT GIVING A SIGNAL AND ALSO SLOWING DOWN FOR GREEN LIGHTS. I GUESS THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC COLOR OF GREEN  Rip

What Drives Me Nuts?

Do you LOVE your four legged family pet??? Well, even if I do not know you I do! It drives me nuts to see dogs hanging out the window, not secured on the back of pick up trucks or even sitting in their owners laps.  Last time I looked dogs can not drive. They need to be safe just as well as we do. Your job is to drive safely. I know you love your pets just as much as I do. Be mindful and keep them safe too.

No signal lights & driving slow in the left passing lane.

All vehicles were built with direction signals, so why don't people USE them !!  Also someone passes you on the left into the fast lane & then slows down & you can't go anywhere because a vehicle is also in front of you.  One more thing that drives me nuts are people texting or talking on the cell phones.  They are very dangerous to others.  Use cell ONLY for an emergency.

The "impolite" driver

What I dislike the most is when you have to slow down to let another car in that really needs to change lanes for whatever reason and you they can't even be bothered to give you the friendly "thank you" wave.   You didn't have to slow down or accomodate them but you did and the least they could do is acknowledge the gesture and/or effort.  Totally selfish!!!

What drives me nuts....

One thing that really drives me nuts is when people drive with their dog on their lap. I always wonder if people realize how dangerous that really is. What if you get into an accident and your airbag is deployed what do you think is going to happen to the dog? And can you really concider your self a safe driver with a dog on your lap?  Believe me, I am a dog lover,,. If you really care for your animal, please reconcider doing this as it is just not safe!

What drives me Nuts when driving

People who don't use their signal lights ! They cause a lot of unessasary fender benders and accidents.

It only shows me they don't know how to drive or use their common driving skills we all had to learn to get a license.

.. Do they think we are all mind readers:smileymad:? Do they think we know which way they are headed?  Common people wake up and use your signals and make sure you turn the way the signal is on. That just bugs me to no end:smileymad:...

What drives me nuts!

It drives me nuts, on a three-lane highway, when there are three vehicles side by side, all driving at the same speed, and usually under the posted speed limit!  Move it over!!!

What drives me nuts....

When a driver pulls out in front of you, then deciding to turn in a driveway a short distance after that, coming to almost a dead stop to turn with NO turning signal....every car has them...Please be consider it and use them!

Turn Signals

Yes, people need to use their signals, I'll grant you that.  It peeves me, for certain, but this is why I don't ride another car's rear, so I'm prepared for the fact that the driver in front of me is a terrible driver and may either hit their brakes unexpectedly or not use their turn signal. If you're putting the proper distance between you and the car in front of you, you won't have to slam on your brakes or swerve into another lane as I've seen so many drivers do hundreds of times. This is why the "rear ender" always gets the ticket (at least in Florida) regardless of what the front driver did. If the rear driver wasn't following too closely to begin with, they wouldn't have hit the car in front of them.

All Shook Up from Loud Music

When I am stopped at a traffic light and the vehicle next to mine (or behind or in front of) has music playing so loudly that the bass vibrates my vehicle and drowns out my own radio...

Amen! No reason for Loud Music!

Your music should only be loud enough for you to hear, not the "neighborhood". No one else wants to hear your music. There's no reason to have it up that loud. It doesn't make anyone look "cool", it actually makes them look ridiculous to anyone at any age with a level head.

Got to love those folks who have to veer into the left lane in order to make a right turn.

Turn Signals

Why are driver's in Florida unable to use their turn signals?  Is it a macho thing?  I use mine as a courtesy to other drivers as well as a defensive action against  being rear-ended or T-boned!

What's Driving Me Nuts?

U-turn drivers who don't yield to right hand turn drivers and U-turns against red lights.

I also can't stand people who stop half way into an intersection past a stop sign in

rural areas.  banbaddrivers

Pickup trucks

It makes me so nervous when I'm behind a truck driver (seems like people in pickups are the most likely to do this) who has a whole load of stuff like logs or machinery or whatnot in the back, and it's only secured with a piece of twine! Or sometimes nothing at all. I've seen people with their trunks open and bikes or skis sticking out of the back, and they're not even tied with anything. I switch lanes ASAP when I end up behind one of these people because I'm terrified that the stuff they're carrying is going to fly out and kill me!

Traffic Lights

What drives me nuts on the road is people who race past and around me to get to the red light FIRST.  Why?

What's Driving' You Nuts?

Another thing that drives me nuts is to see children not in a seat or seat belt.  Why do some people think that driving safety doesn't apply to them?   I love my grandchildren, and I make sure they are securely seated before I start the car. I would never allow them to take off the seat belt until I am completely stopped.  They might not like it but they do it.   Children learn from example, I choose to be a Good example.

TAKE DOWN THE YARD SALE SIGN WHEN YOUR SALE IS OVER !

My hubby and I have often enjoyed our Saturday mornings crusing the neighborhood for Yard Sales.  My Pet Peeve is after following one to the address posted, we find nothing!  I wish everyone would be considerate enough to take down their signs after their sales and not leave them up for the following weekend!

Proof of Stupid Pedestrian in Orlando

This is exactly why pedestrians frequently get run over and killed in Orlando.  I start to get into the turn lane and poof..... there is an idiot standing in the road.. TEXTING...on his stupid phone!  Pedestrians, please stop being soooo stupid.  If you must stare at your phone, stay on the sidewalk.  If you must cross the road.... use a cross walk and walk only when it tells you to.  Here are two pictures proving my point.

Exactly!

:smileylol:

That's exactly how it is here in Pinellas! The crosswalks and signage, electronic and otherwise are there to keep pedestrians safe and they insist on not utilizing them or walking against them and then when they get hit, we're supposed to feel sorry for them?! I've seen them walking and texting, walking with their earbuds stuck in their ears and can't hear the honking vehicles, riding their bikes on the sidewalks illegally, riding their bikes without using hands and texting or talking on their phones......it's absurd!

Common Courtesy

I drive a minimum of 10 hours a day and cannot believe how rude and inconsiderate drivers are becoming. I call it the " ME FIRST ATTITUDE". Case in point: your at a stoplight in a line of traffic and someone is trying to get out of a parking lot. Wouldn't it be nice to let them in instead of ME FIRST. Here's another example, your in the left lane on a crowed highway and you need to get over to the right to exit, you turn on your right turn signal and wait for someone to slow down and let you come over but alas the moment never comes everyone is in a rush and its all about " ME FIRST". Everyone should allow enough time to travel to your destination safley and without rushing. Instead of sleeping to the last possible second, get your lazy butt out of bed  early enough to allow a safe drive to work without rushing and putting your make-up on while your driving. I'm sorry if I sound cold but the truth is there is some seriously crazy driving habits developing and someone needs to point them out.

Hogging the Hightway

We make several trips during the year to West Virginia from Florida, and back.   It never fails but we always need to pass a tractor trailer or another slower driver, my husband pulls out to pass, and there is someone blocking the passing lane. They will not get over, even if the other lane is clear,so we must wait until the other lane is clear so we can get by the person in the passing lane. What is wrong with people that think its okay to stay in the passing lane? It just causes aggravation on the highway. No wonder there is so much road rage.  "SLOW DRIVERS PLEASE DO NOT RIDE IN THE PASSING LANE" THERE SHOULD BE A LAW!!

What drives me nuts is when motorcyclists' or people on scooters...

What drives me nuts is when motorcyclists' or people on scooters drive between cars waiting at lights to get to the front.  I asked a Florida State Trooper and one of my city's officers if there was a law saying they could not do that.  They both said it is illegal to do so.  The space between those two lanes is not an extra lane.  It is dangerous to do so because sometimes as they are moving forward between cars the light will change and they could get hit by a forward moving car.  The officers however also said that this behavior is low in their need to arrest or ticket.  It's just frustrating.
